When we started AwesomeTouch in January 2010, our team rallied around an ambitious vision: touchscreens everywhere. Our view of the future was not unlike that outlined by Corning in 2011.
Over the last 3 years, many things have changed the way that we think about large-format touchscreens and their role in society:
While our path forward will not include large-format touchscreen solutions, our work here yielded progress. It helped clarify our mission, which is much deeper than the ubiquity of touchable surfaces: we seek to make contextual information easily accessible wherever it is needed. Our journey continues through BuildingLayer, where we're exploring what the concept of mapping truly means within the context of the indoor world.
In the words of poet and philosopher Dan Wilson, "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."
